Unit 10 shows the same lesson being taught twice by the same teacher. The first lesson is taught with the teacher intentionally making errors whereas the second lesson is the exact opposite. By watching the two videos, one can see how the teacherÂ’s personality and methodology affect the learning environment and eventually the learning outcome. I understand that teachers must essentially build rapport to make the students feel comfortable learning the language. I observe how the students react in the first lesson and I can see that they all feel intimidated by the teacherÂ’s approach to teaching. To avoid this, it will be a good idea to smile and call students by their names so there will be a feeling of familiarity. The inclusion of a game in the engage part of the lesson makes the class even more conducive to learning. In effect, the students participate more as compared to the first lesson where the students feel dominated by the teacherÂ’s attitude towards them.
