The future tense is the most complex tense from all the tenses and its divided into 7; the future simple, the future continuous, the future perfect, the future perfect continuous, be going plus an infinitive, the present simple and the present continuous. The tense ‘be going’ adding an infinitive and the present continuous are used very often.The present simple and the present continuous have future applications that's why its considered in the future tenses. The future simple uses the shall/will and then the verb. It uses the shall for a more polite expression. The usages for this tense are for predictions without present evidence, its also used for promises, future facts and certainties, speculations, spontaneous decisions and threats. In this tense many students confuse it with the ‘be going to’ form. Some activities to teach can include songs and fortune telling. The future continuous form has a subject, will, be, the verb, ing (present participle). The usages for this tense is when I want to say that something will be in progress at a certain time in the future, also to predict, think, guess of what might happen now,for polite enquiries referring to other peoples plans without influencing the listeners intentions and finally to refer future events that are decided.
Common mistakes for this tense are the usage of the form. Ideas for teaching can be arranging diaries and illustrative situations. The future perfect uses will, have, and past participle the usage if dor something that will have been done by a certain time in the future and it generally uses adverbial expressions that shows when a future event will be completed. Thi tense is often confused with the future perfect continuous. Some activities can be filling future diaries and show questions in the future perfect. The future perfect continuous uses the will, have, been, verb adding the ing. The usage for this is to show how long something will have continued by a certain time and if often includes an adverbial expression that begins with Â’byÂ’ in other words to talk about something that will be in progress at or around some time in the future while the future perfect says that something will be finished by a particular time in the future. For teaching ideas we can use prompts comparing the future perfect continuous and the future perfect. Be going + infinitive is a form that is used to show intentions, predictions based on present evidence and plans which are decicions made before speaking. We can use a birthday plan or a itinerary for teaching. Present simple The usage of
the present simple are to suggest a more formal situation, for timetables and schedules and to suggest a more impersonal tone which are all suggestions. A very good teaching idea will be sharing schedules of flights and airports. Present continuous are used to show definite arrangements, for decisions and plans without a time frame which all lead to a future planning. Some games can be a role-play for teaching this tense.
