The Future tenses are primarily: 1) Future simple which is used to indicate actions in the future especially in particular with spontaneous decisions, predictions with no present evidence, future facts and promises or threats. It is formed by subject + will + verb eg. He will go. The negative is formed with subject + will + not + verb eg. He won't go and the question is formed with will + subject + verb eg. Will he go? An example of an activate stage activity could be a Fortune teller role play. eg. You will get married and have four kids. 2)Future Continuous is used to express an action that is in progress at a particular time in the future and is used especially for actions in progress at a future time, predictions of the present and polite enquiries. It is formed with subject + will + be +verb + ing eg. He'll be cooking dinner tonight. The negative is formed with subject + will + not + be + verb + ing eg. He won't be cooking dinner tonight and the question form is made by will + subject + be + verb + ing eg. Will he be cooking dinner tonight? An example of an activate stage activity could be a Future Life - What will you be doing 10 years from now? eg. I will be running my own restaurant. 3)Future perfect is used to talk about an action completed before a point in the future.
The future perfect is formed with subject + will + have + past participle eg. They will have finished the house by June. The negative is formed with subject + will + not + have + past participle eg. They will not have finished the house by June. The question is formed with Will + subject + have + past participle eg. Will they have finished the house by June? An example of an activate stage activity could be an Alien Invasion. Students talk about the scenarios on Earth 7 years after an alien invasion. eg. Our planet Earth will have run out of fuel. 4)Future perfect continuous is used to focus on the duration of an action before a point in the future eg. I will have been living in Italy for 12 years next year. It is formed with subject + will + have + been + verb + ing eg. He will have been teaching Chinese for 25 years. The negative is formed with subject + will + not + have + been + verb + ing eg. He will not have been teaching Chinese for 25 years. The question is formed with Will + subject + have + been + verb + ing eg. Will he have been teaching Chinese for 25 years? An example of an activate stage activity could be a Future Career eg. I will have been teaching Italian for 20 years in 2040. Other future forms are: a) "going to"" future which is used for future plans decided
before speaking and predictions based on evidence. eg. I think the baby is going to wake up soon. It is formed with the subject + to be + going to + verb (base form) eg. I am going to bake a cake this Saturday.
