This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This was the third and final unit on the ‘Tense System’ and it looked in depth at the four main future tenses: · Future simple. · Future continuous (also known as future progressive). · Future perfect. · Future perfect continuous. Plus: · Be going + Infinitive. · Present simple. · Present continuous. There are many obvious similarities in usage and form between these and the present and past tenses and the also the information set out in this unit, therefore my review is similar to that of unit 4 and 6. For all of these tenses I have learnt what type of language they relate to and when/ how to use them grammatically, I've learnt how to structure the affirmative, negative and question sentence forms for each, the main usages of these tenses with example sentences plus I now know the most common mistakes/errors ESL students make when using them. This information was followed with some very useful teaching ideas for use in the activate stage of an ESA lesson, and also the factors that need to be taken into consideration when planning an activity in order to maximise student talk time and allow for free flowing speech to aid fluency. For the present simple and continuous tenses it was explained that they could be used in a future sense (with future
meaning) and that their usage in this tense alters to that of their present tense. Additionally in this unit there was some revision on the rules for using shall or will. NB If a more in depth review is required with, letÂ’s say, a list of usages for each tense and example sentences please let me know and IÂ’ll submit it ASAP. ", The future tenses were definitely a little tricky because of the fact that it deals a lot with present moments going into the future. It really depends on the circumstances; along with the wording in order to get a solid lead on what ""future tense"" the sentence is really played out to be. I did learn that this is probably the most complex unit that will probably be taught in the English language along with the past tense
