Our TEFL course in France is run in the small, picturesque village of Plelauff in the Brittany region of North-Western France. It is an idyllic and historic village in the Cotes-d’Armor region, close to many other beautiful villages.
In spite of its small size the location has all the facilities and amenities required for you to study and relax. Featuring diverse landscapes, delicious food and world renowned fine wines the surrounding areas are just waiting for you to explore them. France is generally considered to be the gateway to Europe and with its unique culture and interesting history, has something to appeal to everyone.
If you choose to attend our TEFL course here, Plelauff is an ideal location and a convenient stepping stone to the rest of Europe.
The village of Plelauff contains some traditional French bars and restaurants for you to study or relax in while you mix with the local inhabitants. Summer activities include jet skiing and water skiing at Lake Guerledan (pedalos are also available), Mini golf in the park, or a leisurely walk to the local beach to enjoy the sun. Because this region is fairly flat cycling is also a great way to explore.
Outside Plelauff, a number of varied activities can also be enjoyed such as horse-riding, ten-pin bowling, fishing, golf, the cinema or the nearby dance school for the more energetic. Our TEFL course staff can also assist you in planning a weekend trip to nearby Paris.
The climate is warm and temperate. Brittany forms a peninsular surrounded on three sides by water and there is therefore some rainfall although not enough to disturb the long, hot summers. Summer temperatures can be as high as 87˚F (30˚C) and temperatures in the winter can be as low as 40˚F (5˚C to 10˚C). On rare occasions in the winter it can also snow.

What travel documents will I need for france?
ExpandAll visitors to France are required to carry a passport valid for at least six months after their arrival date.
Citizens of the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa can obtain a 3 month (90 day) tourist visa upon arrival in France. All other trainees need to contact the nearest French Embassy to clarify their French visa status.*
* As this information is subject to change at any time, we advise you to contact your local consulate for current travel regulations prior to planning your trip. For more information on obtaining visas please check with your local French consulate or embassy. What is the course schedule?
ExpandThe first session will take place on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. The full course schedule for the week will also be provided on Monday morning. Sessions generally run between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. when there is observed teaching practice (OTP), with appropriate breaks throughout the day. However, variations in schedules do occur from time to time.
Trainees are expected to attend all input and other sessions included on the schedule unless they are sick and require medical treatment. This is particularly important for OTP. It is very difficult to arrange an alternate OTP time and there will be an additional fee for rescheduled OTP sessions.
What can I expect during teaching practice?
ExpandOur practice students are both adults and children. They usually stay on from course to course and form good relationships with trainees and staff.
Lessons are based upon real teaching resources found all over the world and you will have the chance to create your own materials as well. You will also receive the aid of your course trainer throughout lesson planning and receive immediate feedback on your lesson after it’s been delivered. Practicum is assessed and a satisfactory assessment is required to earn your TEFL/TESOL certificate.
Who usually attends the course?
ExpandOn average we have around eight students enrolled in each program, most of whom are American or British. They are typically between 22 and 50 years old.
Is there a dress code?
ExpandFor all input and tutorial sessions at the training location, there are no specific dress requirements. We simply ask that you are mindful of your peers and respectful of the fact that you are a visitor in another country.
During observed teaching practice, there are specific dress requirements that adhere to the local working culture and basic ideas of professionalism. All trainees are expected to dress ‘casually smart’ as you would dress for a business meeting. Jeans of any color, track suits and sports shoes are not permitted during T.P. If in doubt, please check with the Lead Trainer.
What should I bring for course studies?
ExpandPlease bring a pen and a notebook for taking notes during class. You may also want to bring a Dictaphone. It is not required equipment, but many trainees have commented that the possession of a recording device has made the course easier for them. A laptop would also be particularly useful.
