In the two videos I watched, I have learned a lot of things. First, the teacher's attitude is contagious. In the first video, he did not look approachable and friendly which resulted to lack of participation from the students. However, in the second video, the teacher smiled which created a friendly atmosphere so the students responded positively. Second, the teacher should elicit concepts or words from the students because this can encourage them to think and participate which leads to learning, rather than giving the students all the information. Third, it is important to know the students' names and to call on them randomly. Knowing students' names can create rapport between the teacher and the students, and calling on the students randomly can keep all of them active. Fourth, the ESA methods is effective. In the first lesson, I believe that the teacher began with Study right away. A lesson should begin with Engage to trigger students' interest in the lesson and also to allow them to speak. Lastly, since it is a language class, Student Talk Time should be longer compared to Teacher Talk Time. In the first video, it appears that there is only one person in the room and that is the teacher. In the second video, however, there is a change. The students were allowed to talk and participate
freely. This environment made learning fun and easy for the students. There was no pressure on them. I can see that the students were satisfied as they clapped their hands in the end. Obviously, it is in the second video that I see better teaching of English to students.
