The future simple tense is I will/I shall. Shall is often used to make suggestions, invitations, etc. Will is typically used to express stronger intentions, coercion or determination than shall. The future continuous is used to: • Say something that will take place at a particular moment in the future. • To predict the present to say what we think or guess might be happening now. • For polite enquires referring to other people’s plans, but not to influence the intensions of the listener. • To talk about future events which are fixed or decided. The future perfect takes the form of will + have + participle. This tense is used to say to something will have been done, completed or achieved by a certain time in the future. Perfect structures are all relative, with the future perfect we look back on the past from the future. The future perfect uses adverbial expressions which signal when a future event will be completed. The future perfect continuous takes the form of will + have + been + ing. It is used for saying how long something will have continued by a certain time. Be going + infinitive takes the form of the verb “to be” in the present + going to + the base form of the verb. It is similar to the present continuous. It’s used for intensions, predictions
based on present evidence and for making plans. The present simple has the following uses: • To suggest a more formal situation • For making timetables and schedules • To suggest a more impersonal tone The present continuous is used for definite arrangements and for talking about decisions and plans without a time frame.", The content of this unit were the different future tenses
