Accreditation
ExpandAre the courses accredited?
ExpandEach of our online certification courses is recognized and accredited worldwide.
Please be aware that we are one of the largest providers of teacher training courses in the world. With over 650 course graduates each month and nearly 100,000 course graduates worldwide, we might just be the world's most popular provider of online TEFL certificate courses.
For more information on this issue, please visit: http://www.tefl-course.com/accredited-tefl-courses/
Eligibility
ExpandCan I take a course if I don't have any teaching experience?
ExpandYes. Whether you have experience in the classroom or not, our online course study is a great alternative course for those who cannot attend one of our in-class or combined course training centers.
Can I take the course if I don't have a degree?
ExpandYes. In fact many countries around the world do not require EFL teachers to hold degrees. This being the case, it wouldn't make sense for us to hold higher standards than potential employers do.
Can I take the course if I'm not a native English speaker?
ExpandAs long as you are a fluent speaker of English, you are eligible to take our courses. While an EFL/ESL exam score is not required to prove your language skills, please be advised that attempting to take our course with anything less than advanced English language skills may result in unsatisfactory marks and therefore you wouldn't get a certificate.
Are there any age limits for online course enrollment?
ExpandWe require course participants to be at least 18 years old.
Lifetime Job Support
ExpandHow will I benefit from ITTT's assistance finding jobs?
ExpandWe provide job placement assistance to all graduates of our courses. Our staff is available to all course graduates and will work to help you get a job in the location of your choice. Jobs are plentiful so our graduates can expect to receive multiple job offers upon completion of the course. Here are some of the services we provide:
What is your placement rate?
ExpandIdentifying this figure is more difficult than one might think. Some people take our course after already securing a teaching job; some people aren't looking for work right after the course and believe it or not, some people simply take our course with no intention of using it to find work. However, we can say with confidence that we will do everything we can to help you maximize your chances of finding employment. More importantly, the vast majority of those who use are services are able to find jobs.
How soon after I finish the course will I find a job?
ExpandMost trainees are able to find a job within a few weeks of completing the course. It is also not unheard of for our trainees to find work before they even finish their course. Once you begin our course, you can start applying for jobs that require a TEFL certificate (almost every TEFL/TESOL job will).
Fees and Payments
ExpandWhat type of payments do you accept?
ExpandCredit/debit card payments via our secure online payment page are by far the quickest and cheapest way to make your course payment. You can even have a friend or family member pay for your course with their card. We also accept payments via Western Union and PayPal. Finally, bank transfers are also accepted but these payments can take up to seven days to process and include transfer fees.
For a look at any special offers we are currently running, please visit:
What is the deadline for making a course payment?
ExpandWhile we don't have a deadline for course payments, it is best to have a look at our special offers so you can take advantage of course discounts that pop up on a fairly regular basis.
Can I have someone else pay for me?
ExpandYes. As long as you let us know the name of the person paying for your course, we will be able to keep track of your payment records. Once your friend or family member has made the payment, simply email us with their name and we will take care of the rest.
How much is the course fee?
ExpandWe have specific fees for each course we offer. For relevant course fees, please click on each course you are interested in (they can be found on this same FAQ page) and you will find our prices listed there. Regardless of each course fee, fees quoted on our site are all-inclusive. We also offer an http://www.tefl-course.com/money-back/ for each online course we offer.
Will I ever have to pay additional fees?
ExpandNo. Our fees are all-inclusive of course related material, assessments, moderation and the issuing of certificates.
If I have a friend who would like to take the course with me, do you offer any discounts?
ExpandIf you have friends and/or colleagues who would like to take an online course with you, simply fill out the application with each course participant mentioned and we will let you know about the relevant discounts.
If you would like to join one of our in-class or combined courses, we may or may not have a special offer for you. For the most up-to-date information, please check the "Course Fees" page of the course location you are interested in.
Do you offer group rates?
ExpandWe do offer discounted group rates as well as ad-hoc course combinations and/or packages for most of our courses. Please email us at courses@tesol-tefl.com for further information.
Why are the onsite courses so much more expensive?
ExpandThe operating costs to run an onsite course are considerably more expensive than they are to run the online courses. Regardless of the costs, our course fees are all-inclusive and we have no hidden fees.
Do you offer financial aid?
ExpandPlease accept our apologies but we do not offer scholarships or financial assistance at this time.
Combined Course Accommodation
ExpandWhen will I be able to book my accommodation?
ExpandYou will be able to book your accommodation as soon as your deposit payment has been received and we have emailed you your course information packet.
What are my accommodation options?
ExpandOptions vary depending on location. For more information on accommodation options, please email us at course@tesol-tefl.com.
How much is accommodation?
ExpandPrices vary depending on location. For more information on accommodation fees, please visit the following page of our website and click the "expand" button for the location you are interested in attending: http://www.tefl-course.com/combined-tefl-courses/ .
To learn more about your accommodation options, please email us at courses@tesol-tefl.com.
Combined Course Certificates
ExpandIf I choose to take the combined course, will I still be issued a full TEFL certificate?
ExpandYes, upon successful completion of the combined course, you will receive exactly the same certificate as if you had taken our 4-week, in-class course.
How will I receive my certification and how long will it take to receive it?
ExpandWhen you finish the course, you will confirm the address where you would like the certificate to be sent. Once an address has been confirmed, we will send you your certificate via registered post anywhere in the world.
How can I request express delivery of my certificate?
ExpandWe do offer an express DHL delivery option but this will cost extra (US$ 50) and represents the only extra charge you will have to pay on top of our course fees.
If you or your employer is in a hurry to see proof of your certification, we can also email you a scanned soft copy of your certificate in PDF format.
Is the combined course as good as the 4-week in-class course?
ExpandYes it is. Because the course content is the same, it is really just a matter of schedules and timing. If you can only attend a course for a week or two, obviously the combined course is a better option. However, if you are looking for more interaction with fellow trainees or simply don't like the idea of distance learning, the in-class course might be a better route towards TEFL certification.
Combined Course Format
ExpandWhat is the procedure for taking the combined course?
ExpandOnce you pay your course deposit fee you will be sent your personal access code for our online training system. You will then proceed through the online portion of the course as if it were a normal 120-hour online certification course with tutor. Once finished with the online component of the course, you will attend one of our combined course locations to complete your teaching practice. When you have passed that, you will have earned your certificate.
How do I start my course?
ExpandYou can start your course by simply paying your course deposit fee. Once you do so we will contact you within one working day and supply you with all the information you need to get started.
Do I have to finish my online studies before attending the in-class portion of the course?
ExpandYes. We require this portion of the course to be completed before you start your teaching practice.
How long will I have to complete the entire course?
ExpandYou will basically have 10 months in which to complete all your studies. From the time that you first access your personal section of our online training system, you will have six months to finish your online studies. Then, you will have a further four months in which to begin your in-class teaching practice.
How will I receive my certificate after the course?
ExpandAfter you successfully complete the entire combined course, we will ask you to confirm your mailing address and we will send your certificate via registered post anywhere in the world.*
* If you take the course in Phuket, you will be presented with your certificate directly after the course.
Combined Course Locations
ExpandWhere can I take the combined course?
ExpandThe combined course can be taken in the following locations: Phuket, Thailand; *London, England; *Paris, France; *New York City, USA; Rome, Italy and Barcelona, Spain.
* Denotes one-week of teaching practice rather than two weeks.
How can I find out more about each location?
ExpandThe best way to learn more about course schedules, observed teaching practice and travel advice is to visit the FAQ page for the site you are interested in. You can find the FAQ pages by going to the in-class course section and choosing the corresponding course location.
Combined Course Materials
ExpandHow will I receive the materials?
ExpandAll your online course materials will be accessed via our online training system. The materials for this part of the course are in PDF format. Once you attend the in-class portion of the course you will receive all materials in person.
Will I receive any books/materials through postal mail?
ExpandThe only material you will receive in the post will be a hardcopy of your certificate.
Can I print the online materials?
ExpandOnce you have downloaded the course materials you are free to print them.
What are the end-of-unit task sheets like for the online portion of the course?
ExpandThe end-of-unit task sheets include both short-answer and essay style questions. You will also be asked to complete a number of different lesson plans. This part of your studies is used as a self-check system so you can monitor your own progress through the course materials, and subsequently they will not be assessed.
How many units are in the course?
ExpandYou will have 20 units of study.
What subjects will be covered?
ExpandYou will study the following main topics: EFL teaching methodology, teaching theory, language awareness (grammar) and phonetics.
Distance Learning
ExpandIs there any classroom study; will I need to meet with anyone face-to-face?
ExpandOnce you finish the online portion of the course, you will attend one of our combined course centers for your observed teaching practice.
Are there assigned times to work online?
ExpandNo. The way our online courses have been designed allows you to study at your own pace and set your own hours. Once you attend the in-class portion of the course, you will have a set schedule.
Can I take the online course now and then do onsite training at a later date?
ExpandYes. You can complete an online course and then enroll on the observed teaching practice of the combined course at our training center in Phuket, Rome or Barcelona, but you must do so within six months of completing the online course. This will result in the combined course certification. In order to do this the difference in course fees need to be met.
Internet and Software Requirements
ExpandCan I work from anywhere?
ExpandYes. You can complete the course from anywhere that you have access to a computer with an internet connection.
What kind of computers and programs do I need to have?
ExpandOur materials are suitable for both PCs and Macs. You will need a document reader such as a fairly recent version of Microsoft Word or WordPad, as well as the latest version of Adobe Reader. Speakers and a sound card are also required for viewing the course video file. Please bear in mind all of these specifications come standard on almost every desktop and laptop sold within the past 20 years.
Online Course Topics
ExpandWho accredits the online course certificates?
ExpandThey are externally validated and moderated by OTTSA (The Online TEFL and TESOL Standards Agency). The chief moderator, Trevor Brindley, routinely visits our offices, inspecting all aspects of the course and interviewing the course director and all the tutors, making sure that our high standards are maintained.
For more information on this issue, please visit:
If I choose to take an online course, will I still be issued a full TEFL certificate?
ExpandAfter successful completion of the 120-hour certification course you will receive a fully recognized online TEFL certificate and therefore qualify for thousands of jobs around the world.
If you take a course with fewer hours of study, these will not result in full certification as the worldwide industry standard for such certification dictates trainees undergo at least 100 hours of study.
The advanced certificates earned after completing our CTEYL, CTBE or Dip. TESOL courses are also recognized worldwide.
To watch a video covering these points, please visit: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10150276083317778
Are your online courses internationally recognized?
ExpandYes. Not only are our certificates well recognized, we are actually one of the largest providers of teacher training courses in the world. With over 650 course graduates each month and nearly 100,000 course graduates worldwide, we might just be the world's most popular provider of online TEFL certificate courses.
For more information on our accreditation, please visit: http://www.tefl-course.com/accredited-tefl-courses/ .
How will I receive my certification and how long will it take to receive it?
ExpandUpon successful completion of our course, we will send you an internationally recognized and accredited TESOL or TEFL certificate via registered post. We will post it to you anywhere in the world and you will verify your address upon completion of the course. Each certificate contains an identification number which employers can use to check the authenticity of your qualification. Each certificate comes with a covering letter and will be posted within five working days.
Believe it or not, many other online courses only provide a PDF file of your certificate.
Is the online course as good as the onsite course?
ExpandWhen making a choice between our online and in-class courses, please consider that the topic of study in both the online and onsite courses are nearly identical. The obvious difference is that the in-class and combined courses feature observed teaching practice (teaching practicum). This practicum means the courses are therefore regarded slightly more highly by employers and in that way are certainly more prestigious. The downside is that they cost considerably more. If you have the time and money, we definitely recommend the in-class and combined courses but if not, the online courses are excellent alternatives.
Do your certificates say "online" on them?
ExpandNo, the online course certificates do not say "online" anywhere on the certificate. Each course results in specific certification and each certificate indicates the number of hours involved in the course.
Course Materials
ExpandHow will I receive the materials?
ExpandAll your online course materials will be accessed via our online training system. All the written materials for our online courses are in PDF format.
Will I receive any books/materials through postal mail?

Can I print the materials or just access them online?

Introduction to TEFL Courses
ExpandWill these courses lead to full TEFL certification?
ExpandAs these courses are simply "Introduction to TEFL" courses and do not consist of at least 100 hours of course study, many employers and governmental agencies do not accept these certificates. However, if you are planning to volunteer teach or simply explore your options for teaching ESL, these courses are a great choice as they do provide significant insight into the teaching profession. Even these shorter courses will help you to deliver lessons in the classroom.
Is this the right course for me?
ExpandOur Introduction to TEFL course is a great choice for anyone who is looking to volunteer teach or teach while earning a small stipend, as well as for those who simply wish to begin preliminary exploration into the wide world of teaching EFL/ESL.
* Please note these courses are not widely recognized as full TEFL certification and may not qualify you for many jobs around the world.

TEFL Certificate Courses
ExpandWill these courses lead to full TEFL certification?
ExpandYes they will. The industry standards for TEFL/TESOL training courses dictate that course study should include 100 to 120 hours or more. The certificates earned are also internationally recognized and accredited. Although, onsite courses that include observed teaching practice are the best options available, these certificates are a great alternative.
Is this the right course for me?
ExpandIf you are looking to gain internationally recognized and accredited certification to teach EFL/ESL, this might be the course for you. If you lack classroom-based teaching experience, we do recommend a course that includes observed teaching practice (In-class or Combined); however, if you cannot afford the financial and/or time commitments involved, online course training is widely recognized and therefore a great alternative to the our onsite courses.
How quickly can I finish the course?
ExpandYou can finish these courses in as few as ten working days but most people finish the course in six to eight weeks. If you need more time, we will allow up to six months in which to complete a course.
