Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.
This lesson covered common problems of teaching in various situations that commonly arise. For example, during new classes, listening practices, students who don't want to use English or reluctant students. I think it is always important to have someone remind me that the students are rarely disruptive out of spite or for malicious reasons. It is very important to keep in focus that most students want to learn!- and there are methods we can use to help them along. In this unit, I have learned how to successfully manage the class, how to inspire and encourage students to learn the language. There are many techniques that a teacher can use in the class to help students be bold and not afraid to talk and practice their language. I believe that one of the most important things is students' talking time as it gives them the opportunity to use things they have learned and learn from the mistakes they make. Practice makes perfect.
