Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.
Although the unit was called troubleshooting, it felt more like the FAQs section at the end of a guide. This was because it mostly covered more specific things that more people would likely have had more trouble with in the past. The topics covered were first lessons, warmers, different levels, large classes, use of native language, reluctant students and difficulties with listening texts. It went over possible causes of these issues and tips on dealing with them.A nice long juicy unit! I've studied IPA before for A Level English, but it's good to recap it, particularly focusing on usage in a English classroom. Of course, it will take me a long time to fully know all the terms associated with places in the mouth, fricatives, plosives etc., but the information in this unit will be well used moving forward during pronunciation classes with my students. Reading questions and answers in the IPA was a great deal of fun as well!
