In this lesson, I have learned that lesson planning is important for a teacher. Although there is a danger in too much preparation, lesson planning acts as an aid, a working document, and a record. First, the teacher has to be aware of the basic principles in lesson planning. Lesson plans should be kept simple, should be structured, should not try to script the lesson, should indicate the anticipated time, should check for balance of skills, and should be flexible. Second, lesson plans should contain learner objectives, personal aims, context, teaching aids, anticipated problems, etc. Of the contents of a lesson plan, I realized that personal aims and anticipated problems should be considered. I have planned lessons before but I have never included these. The personal aims refer to what the teacher wants to improve or develop in himself as a teacher. I believe this one is very important. Also, as early as the planning stage, the teacher has to anticipate problems and possible solutions so when these problems arise, they would not be problems anymore. Finally, it is not enough to implement the lesson plan. However, the teacher should monitor, evaluate and assess the lesson plan so that he can see what worked and what did not. This is necessary for the improvement of the future lesson
plans. With lesson planning, the teacher is always ready and the students feel that they are in good hands because the teacher is prepared.
