This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit gives a detailed review of English tenses and grammar constructions associated with expressing future actions, events and intentions. We have learned the formation and usage of future tenses. It has been emphasized that the system and structure of the future tenses are very similar to the present and past tenses, except that the future tenses obviously relate to future time periods. All tenses apply the same principles of formation: 1) all continuous forms in all tenses feature a suitable form of the verb 'be' plus the 'ing' form of the meaningful verb; 2) all perfect forms in all tenses feature a suitable form of the verb 'have' plus past participle form form of the meaningful verb; 3) all perfect continuous forms in all tenses feature a suitable form of the verb 'be' plus 'been' (i.e. past participle of the verb 'be') plus the 'ing' form of the meaningful verb. All in all, one has a number of grammatical forms available for what one wants to say in regards of one's intentions or future actions. There are seven most common tenses and grammar structures that can be related with future meanings or have future applications: 1) future simple (I'll phone you later.); 2) future continuous (I'll be probably having dinner at 5 p.m.); 3) future perfect (Surely, I'll have finished
my work by Friday.); 4) future perfect continuous (By you arriving I'll have already been working for 2 hours.); 5) present simple (The final starts in the first court in ten minutes.); 6) present continuous (I'm playing tennis with him tomorrow.); 7) 'be going + to do smth.' structure (It's going to get darker in an hour time.) Furthermore, we have surveyed other aspects of using and teaching future tenses, such as their functions, frequency, distinctions in usage, and many useful teaching ideas for each of them.
