The future tense has seven different tense systems. These seven future tenses are future simple, future continuous, future perfect, future perfect continuous, be going and infinitive, present simple, present continuous. The future tense is the most complicated to understand as there are future applications for present tenses which can be confusing for students. The future simple is used for future facts and certainties, promises, predictions based on no present evidence, assumptions or speculations, spontaneous decisions and threats. The future continuous tense takes the form of a subject that will be doing a verb (I will be dancing). This tense is used to predict what will be happening now 'predict the present', say something that will be happening a a specific time in the future, polite inquiries into future plans, and to refer to future events which are already decided. The future perfect tense form will be a subject that will have plus a past participle (I will have lived here for a year). This tense is used to state something that will be accomplished by a certain time in the future. The future perfect continuous tense is used to explain how long something will have been happening by a certain time. An example sentence for the future perfect continuous form would be: by the
time she graduates, she will have been studying for four years. Going to future tense looks very similar to present continuous the difference being the 'be going to' structure is always followed by a verb. This tense is used to state intentions, predictions based on present evidence, and decisions made before speaking. Present simple tense has future tense applications when used to suggest a formal situation or impersonal tone, and for timetables and schedules. The present continuous tense is used as a future tense when stating definite arrangements and decision/plans without a time frame,
