This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit refers to a wide-range variety of techniques and methods of teaching productive skills. The productive skills – speaking and writing – are two of four basic skills as in the English language as any other language. Both of the productive skills are used for the same purpose – to communicate. In fact, speaking and writing are different in many ways. For example, writing requires a higher degree of accuracy than speaking, because a reader to whom our writing is destined, not always can clear up ‘on spot’ any misunderstandings if so, as it can be done with our interlocutors when we are speaking. Therefore, the writing is more concentrated on producing correct language than the speaking. Although it is naturally that educated persons, what we as the teachers all are undoubtedly aspired to achieve in our pupils, are always supposed to produce correct language in both writing and speaking, surely they ought to know speaking structures and saying slangs of the living language as well. Speaking as the most ‘living’ part of the language skills requires a good degree of fluency as the speaker will rarely have time to think and plan an answer. As such, the unit gives us a detailed review of useful techniques and methods to provide both accuracy and
fluency activities when teaching productive skills. There are also given in here the most useful detailed samples of a typical ESA free-speaking activity lesson and a creative writing activity lesson with detailed analysis of every ESA lesson phase and handy guidelines for every lesson stage and activities. As a conclusion we can underline once more that all language skills are equally important, and as such it is highly important to develop equally all of them in our students and we as teachers should incorporate all of them into our lessons holding a good balance of integrated skills in the classroom. ", This unit deals with the productive skills
