The comparison between video one and video two was very successful in driving home the point that establishing a good rapport with your students is of primary importance. The best lesson content will be of little use if students are not receptive, whatever the reason. In the second lesson it was interesting to see the teacher gain momentum with the studentsÂ’ involvement and interest, then maintain it throughout. There was gentle guidance through the ebbs and flows of classroom discussion. There were calm and subtle corrections of studentsÂ’ mistakes and correction was limited to things directly related to the lesson point. I was also impressed by the smooth transition from one phase to the next. The teacher guided the class from activity to activity without any of the students losing the common thread.
