The unit emphasizes the importance of lesson planning in advance. Some aspects of lesson plans that make them useful and necessary are examined. We are acquainted with the different parts of a lesson plan and how they relate to the actual lesson. In my opinion, the most crucial elements of a lesson plan are the learner objectives (what the teacher expects the students to be able to do at the end of the lesson) and the anticipated problems and possible solutions for them. The procedure, the timing and the activities in each ESA phase are also elements that the teacher needs to spend some time elaborating before the lesson. The sample lesson plan provided in the unit could come very handy because it helps further exemplify what each element could consist of. I think I could make use of the blank lesson plan—it’s neat and well-organized. Self-evaluation is also an important stage in teacher development and the form provided could help teachers figure out what could be improved in their method. They support the structure of the lesson and keep the teacher on track. They can be referred to during the lesson to make sure all skills/information have been taught and practices.
