Functions of lesson planning: -An aid to planning -What do u expect from the students, how do u achieved it, time limit to complete the lessons. Helps to think logically through the stages -A working document- Helps u to keep on target and gives u sumtin to refer during the lesson. However u have to be flexible according to the needs of the class. -A record- a record of what a class has done & which materials have been used. Also for when a substitute teacher to know what u've been doing in the class How should a lesson plan be written down -Keep it simple. -Do not try to script the lesson. -Structure it and maintain the same structure. -Write the anticipated time for each activity in the margin -Check for balance of skills (writing, speaking, reading, listening). Try to make sure the activities fit together. -Keep it flexible and open to adaptation What should be included in a lesson plan -Learner objectives - This is what u want the students to be able to do by the end of the lesson -Personal aims - What u as a teacher wish to achieve. This is usually the area of ur teaching that u want to improve -Context- This shows the theme around which ur lesson is based and how it fits in with past and planned future lessons. -Teaching aids-Materials n other aids (cassette player, worksheet,
pic, etc) -Anticipated problems (student & teacher) -Procedure- the activities used to achieve the learner's objectives -Phase-ESA -Timing -Interactions-S-S or T-S -Class level - Level of ability of the class -Number of students -Date/time -Teacher's & observer's names", This unit dealt with lesson plans. Two things I took away were that lesson plans should not be so strict that do not allow for flexibility and that experience is needed for teachers to know how to create a lesson plan that works for them. The majority of this quiz required me to recall information from past lessons
