There are seven forms for expressing the future tense including two present tense forms, present simple and present continuous. Most commonly, present continuous and the ´be going´ form are used. The forms are employed as such: future simple (´will´ plus verb) is used for future facts and certainties, promises, predictions, assumptions/speculations, spotaneous decisions and threats; future continuous (´will be´ plus present participle) is used to say that something will be in progress at a specific point in the future, to predict the present to say suppose what might be happening elsewhere presently, for polite inquiries referring to other´s plans (without motives to influence said plans), and to refer to future events which are fixed or decided. Future perfect (´will have´ plus past participle) is used to say something will ahve been completed by a certain time in the future; future perfect continuous (´will have been´ plus present participle) expresses how long an event will have continued up until a certain time (this form often includes an adverbial expression such as ´by next week´); the ´be going´ future tense, which is always followed by a verb and is used for intentions, predictions based on present evidence, and plans based on
decisions made before speaking. Finally the two present forms can be used to express future actions: present simple suggests the occurance of formal situations, is used for timetables and schedules, and can also suggest an impersonal tone. Present continuous is used for definite arrangements and decisions or plans without a time frame.
