This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
There is a great difference between the two demonstrations. *The first demonstration is a teacher centered lesson in which the teacher does everything in the lesson. The teacher used a grammar translation methodology for his lesson,so it was very boring. First he didn't use an engage phase to involve the students in the new lesson. He started his lesson with the study phase .He asked the students about the meaning of the auxiliary verbs. When the students couldn't answer,he started to write many examples on the board .Then he moved to the three forms (affirmative-negative-question)without eliciting more examples to check the students, understanding. Unfortunately he forgot an example and wrote it at the end of the lesson and the students were busy answering a sheet. Secondly, he moved directly to the exercise phase and handed the students the exercise sheet without introducing it or telling them what they should do. Then he sat down on a chair away from them waiting for their answers without monitoring or helping.Suddenly he stood up and started to read the questions loudly in order to discus the answers without telling them that the time is up.So he didn't know whether they answered all the sheet or not.while discussing the answers he corrected the mistakes only without discussing it
and how it can be corrected. The students answered without order or permission . In conclusion, the students were not comfortable at all. They feel confused, reluctant and afraid to answer.Because they didn't understand. Finally the teacher wasn't well prepared and didn't have prepared materials for his lesson. *The second demonstration is really interesting and enjoyable. The teacher started his lesson with a smile which helped the students feel comfortable. The teacher started his lesson with the engage phase. It was a game.He determined the time .He reminded the the students of the time left to motivate them finish their answer. Then he discussed the answers and wrote the correct ones on the board. The students were all involved an d participated effectively. They felt interested and motivated all the time. The teacher asked them mentioning their names. So the feel enthusiastic. ", A very nice unit which compared 2 very different lessons. It shows a good example and a bad example how to teach English as a foreign languge. The videos were very interesting for me and were showing what to do and what not to do while teaching., A very nice unit which compared two very different lessons with each other. It shows a good example and a bad example how to teach English as a foreign languge. The videos
were very interesting for me and they were showing what to do and what not to do while teaching English., This is a very interesting lesson and yet a beneficial one. A lesson that's derived from observation and less through constant reading of texts and information. Like the previous lesson
