This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this section I learnt about teavhing vocabulary, grammar and language function. To students the difficulty of learning vocabulary largely depends on the simularity to their native language, the simularity to the English words they already know (receptive or productive), spelling, pronunciation and appropriacy. The students need to know the vocab meaning, use, word grammer, interaction, spelling and pronunciation. A typical vocab lesson is usually planned and carried out as a straight arrow ESA. When introducing grammatical structures it is important for students to know the meaning of the language, how it is used, the grammatical form and how it is said/written. A typical grammar lesson is usually carried out as a patchwork ESA eg: E-A-S-A-S-A. When teaching language functions students will learn language such as inviting, refusing, agreeing, disagreeing and suggesting. Students will also learn appropriacy of language such as formal, informal, tentative and technical. A typical language function lesson is usually carried out as a boomerang ESA lesson eg: E-A-S-A.
